As an extension of the solo show by Sawsan Al Bahar at Maraya Art Centre, Firetti Contemporary will be exhibiting Sawsan Al Bahar's works for Alserkal September Lates. The event will take place on the 28th of September from 11 am to 10 pm. Join us as we celebrate Al Bahar's journey through a selection of her works. In drawing, Installation and text, Sawsan explores and experiments with a notion of home as myth, often narrating her own by borrowing content from her family’s history.
About the Artist:
Born in Damascus and raised in the UAE, Sawsan Al Bahar is a Syrian/Palestinian artist, architect and researcher. After completing her Bachelor of Architecture at the American University of Sharjah in 2013, Sawsan developed a practice based in Dubai, centred around the notion of home as myth. Sawsan looks for the discreet ways history influences personal narratives and often focuses on her own life and family history. Her works encompass drawings, prints, installations, digital scans and text, all of which she uses to search for a connection with her past, her land, her culture, her language, her family and ultimately her identity.
