Ahmad Tallaa Syrian, b. 1994

Through muted tones, expressive brushstrokes, and layered textures, Tallaa constructs ethereal, dreamlike compositions, where figures emerge and dissolve into abstract forms.
Ahmad Tallaa was born in Damascus, Syria, and currently resides in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates. He is a multidisciplinary artist with a deep connection to self-expression through art. He graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts in Damascus, where he studied from 2012 to
2017. He earned the Spring Annual Exhibition Award from the Ministry of Culture for The Best Artwork in both 2017 and 2019 in Damascus.

Ahmad's artistic practice is an exploration of materials, tools, and the unknown, serving as a journey of self-discovery. His work involves observing and contemplating forms and elements that ignite his imagination and fulfi his need for expression. Through this process, he adopts and develops these elements, resulting in compositions that reflect instability, weathered surfaces, and fleeting, vanishing movements reminiscent of rubble. He believes that the nature of life under the shadow of war, feelings of instability, and insecurity have significantly shaped the visual identity of his work.

His artistic research spans various mediums, including printmaking, sculpture, painting, material fabrication, handmade paper, and recycling. Ahmad finds great joy in crafting his own tools and materials, believing that this hands-on approach allows him to reach deeper levels of expression and creativity. In addition to his visual art, he crafts musical instruments, such as the Ney (flute). He also plays both the Ney and the Oud, blending his passion for music with his artistic endeavors.
