Laurent Perbos French , b. 1971

Inspired by the world of sport, Laurent Perbos' work confronts the familiar forms of manufactured objects with ancient masterpieces, in a desire to combine popular and classical culture, past and present, real and imaginary.

Born in 1971 and trained at the École d'art de Bordeaux, Laurent Perbos lives and works in Marseille and Paris.

Recently, Laurent Perbos created “Beauty and the Geste, a collection of Venus inspired sculptures that embody iconic sports from the Olympic and Paralympic Games. The poses range from traditional sports like boxing, javelin, and archery to new disciplines such as surfing, capturing the evolution of the Games since their inception. These six works were displayed in front of the Assemblée Nationale in Paris during the Olympic and Paralympic Games.

 

His work has been exhibited in France and abroad (Belgium, Argentina, China, Korea, Brazil) and now for the first time in UAE.
